Grandma's Ode to Kaylee Jo

By Carolyn Hanks

     Little girl, I love you.
     I love you perched
     upon your Mama's hip,
     as a queen,
     surveying your realm,
bestowing a smile upon worthy subjects.

Little girl, I love you. I love you bouncing - and bouncing - exuberance showing, keeping a caring Grandpa Ever alert to you needs.

Little girl, I love you. I love you screeching and yelling with joy - watching your brothers and wanting to join the fun, laughing as they smother you with "tickles".

Little girl, I love you. I love you tucked so softly in blanket, lying, eyes closed to all the world around, innocent and beautiful beyond words.
